Nicole Batchelor received her Ph.D. in English at Lehigh University, where she specialized in early modern and medieval literature and feminist theory. Her research examines the ways in which female characters in early modern drama employ the abject as a means of limited agency to combat an oppressive and toxic patriarchy. Her current research considers pop cultural representations of the early modern and medieval periods in HBO’s series Game of Thrones and Julia Gfrorer’s graphic novel, Black Is the Color and her mini-comic, Flesh and Bone. Nicole teaches courses in composition and rhetoric, British literature, particularly Shakespeare and Chaucer, and film studies.
